What is B Corp?
B Corp is an accreditation awarded to a company that, after a rigorous assessment process, meets the highest standards of social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency, and aspires to use the power of business to solve social and environmental problems.
B Lab® is the nonprofit organization that certifies B Corporations – just as USDA certifies organic vegetables and milk, and Fairtrade certifies fairly traded coffee.
To qualify as a B Corp, a company must have explicit social or environmental missions, and are legally required to consider the impact of their decisions on workers, customers, suppliers, community and the environment.
We integrate our commitment to sustainability into our mission and strategies. At Flow, we exist to have a regenerative impact on the planet through innovation in beekeeping that connects people to nature and inspires care for our shared world.
The B Corporation Best for the World 2019 List is published, and Flow is proud to be an Environment Honoree, a distinction awarded to the top 10% of all B Corps.
This honour is awarded due to our strong environmental standards that we apply across the sourcing of the timber, the manufacturing process, recycled and reduced packaging of our Flow Hives and other beekeeping equipment. And our impact helping to increase the number of beekeepers in the world, which is thanks to you, and the bees of course!
We vote every day for a better world through the way we run our business. Thank you for your support!
BeeInventive – a Certified B Corporation
We first became certified as a B Corp in 2018 – the continuation of our journey to use business as a means for positive purpose.
Although the name implies it, becoming a B Corp does not mean a certification granted by bees (and no, we did not create the name ourselves – though wish we had!).
The guiding principles that drive our innovation, and creation of product are based on strong environmental standards that we apply across the sourcing of the timber, the manufacturing process, recycled and reduced packaging of our Flow Hives and other beekeeping equipment.
The more we can share beekeeping, and build community around the act of keeping bees, the more we can advocate for bees and other pollinators and continue to be champions of responsible beekeeping, which in and of itself delivers benefits to the planet.
We are excited that maintaining our B Corp status will challenge us to be the company we want to be, allow us to improve and think about how we are affecting the environment, the community, our employees and our customers.
Just as Cedar thought “there must be a better way” to harvest honey, being a B Corp is a better way to do business.
