Our in-house manufacturing team has very high QC standards, which means that when packing our premium hive, some usable timber pieces don’t make the grade.
As sustainability is a core value for us at Flow, we’re upcycling these beautiful western red cedar panels to offer the Flow Hive 2+ Scratch & Dent to those willing to make good use of our natural resources. So if you’re prepared to tinker a little, prepare to save big on our premium hive, and the best bit – the bees won’t know the difference!

Made from perfectly imperfect reclaimed wood.
All timber included will be in useable condition, however as the name suggests, you may find scratches, dents, and minor imperfections such as small timber knots in the woodware. You may need to tinker a little or make minor adjustments with a chisel to assemble your hive but once it’s together the bees won’t know the difference!

Redesigned Adjustable Hive Stand
This handy feature enables you to control the height and level of your hive perfectly, even on uneven ground, ensuring the ultimate slope for honey harvesting.
Keep your hive dry and off the ground, preventing ground dwelling pests from gaining easy access. Now featuring Flow Ant Guards to give your hive even more protection.
Made from powder coated aluminium, it’s easier to put together and much more durable.
Innovative base design
The Flow Hive 2+ base is specially designed for pest management, ventilation control and functionality. Including spirit levels for gaining the optimal hive set-up, a multifunctional tray for hive observations and applying pest treatments, and ventilation controls to suit every climate.
Flow Entrance Reducer
Highly requested by the Flow community, the Flow Entrance Reducer is handy for protecting against predators and robbing, reducing drafts in cold climates and can be used to seal the hive entrance for short periods when relocating your hive.

Yes! All of the repurposed timber panels in the Scratch and Dent hive should be in useable condition but may require a little tinkering in the assembly process. In the unlikely event that you receive an item that cannot be utilised, reach out to our friendly support team.

Our premium Flow Hive 2+ includes extra features to make taking care of your bees even easier, and is manufactured using western red cedar (Thuja Plicata). Sustainably sourced in North America, cedar is a beautiful timber with a remarkably fine and stable grain structure.
Cedar is often used as a hive timber in the USA, UK and other regions, because of its durability and insulative properties.
The wood includes beautiful, rich colour variation ranging from yellowish-white colour to a pale brown through to a richer dark brown. As this product is made from naturally grown resources – each hive will be slightly different in character. You can maintain a natural timber finish by oiling or staining to accentuate its natural colour variations.
