PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Already have a beehive?

A Flow Super Hybrid is perfect for beekeepers with an existing hive who want to experience the ease of harvesting with Flow and are also lovers of honeycomb.

Combining Flow technology with traditional wooden frames in your Flow Super allows you the flexibility to harvest honey on tap from your Flow Frames and delicious fresh honeycomb from your wooden frames. This package has the additional benefit of offering beekeepers the option to move wooden frames between the super and brood box which can be useful for hive management.

Manufactured from sustainably sourced, Araucaria, the Flow Super – Flow Hive Hybrid features an observation window, timber fixtures and is designed to accommodate Flow Frames without any modifications.

Our patented Flow Frame technology is made in Brisbane from durable, BPA- and BPS-free plastic.

PRODUCT COMPATIBILITY

This product is manufactured to the same specifications as the Flow Hive Classic, and Flow Hive Hybrid and is compatible with all individual components in this range.

The Flow Super is also designed to be compatible with Langstroth hives – please check specific dimensions here.

What's in the box

Your questions answered

The Flow Super is not a complete hive and is designed to be added to an existing hive. You will need a brood box, base, queen excluder, inner cover and roof. If you are getting set-up for the first time, we recommend a complete Flow Hive as this comes with everything that you need.

It’s important to add a slope towards the rear of the hive (3º is optimal) for harvesting. This can be added to your existing base, or you can prop up the front of the hive at harvest time. You will also need to consider how your roof fits over the Flow Super to allow access to the Flow key access cover. The Flow Hive roof has a modified cutout to allow easy access, however, using a flat roof that sits above the inner cover can also work.

Beekeeping is a fascinating and rewarding hobby, where the discoveries are endless. Plus the honey really is an amazing bonus!

If you’re just getting started, we’re here to help – our friendly support team is on hand via email, phone, or live chat to get fast answers to your buzzing questions.

Or if you’d rather go straight to the top, join Cedar, our co-inventor, every week for a special live stream on Facebook and Youtube, where you’ll have the opportunity to ask him your questions live!

We’ll support you every step of the way with a swarm of educational resources to ensure your beekeeping journey will be an enjoyable one.

Bees rarely find their way into empty beehive boxes, even though they are designed to be a perfect home for them.

There are a number of ways of starting a colony, from buying a package of bees, to receiving a hive split or catching a swarm.

We also have a range of videos and blogs to help you understand the different ways in which you can source bees for your new hive.

Yes! Flow Hives are perfect for setting-up just about anywhere.

You will need enough space to access the back of the hive for easy harvesting and your bees will require a clear space at the front of the hive for their flight path.

You'll also need to check-in with local governing bodies to find out if there are any regulations that you need to be aware of.

Here are some of our top tips on where to set up your beehive.

It is important to understand some basic safety guidelines to ensure that your beekeeping experience is a safe and positive one.

Beekeeping suits and other personal protective equipment can offer excellent prevention against bee stings but are not 100 percent effective. It’s important new beekeepers exercise caution when tending to their hives and are comfortable with the fact that sooner or later, all beekeepers get stung.
