Flow Hive technology drastically reduces the chance of being stung during harvest, but if you drop a full brood frame during a routine inspection, you are sure to attract unwanted attention!

Even the friendliest beehive can get cranky sometimes and these jackets are perfect for the beekeeper who wants convenience while also knowing their face, arms and torso have the very best in sting prevention.

Our mesh jackets are lightweight and easy to take on and off, which makes them a popular option around the Flow office. Just make sure you’re wearing suitable sting prevention below the waist!

Each jacket kit comes with ventilated gauntlet goatskin gloves and a J-style hive tool, both items extremely useful for any beekeeper.

Features

These versatile jackets come with 6 thick, GOTS certified organic cotton lined hip, chest and sleeves pockets, plus knee and elbow gaiters.

Equipped with durable, high-quality YKK zippers, a high gauge heavy mesh removable fencing veil, anti-bunch elastic thumb stirrups.
Tough enough for heavy commercial use, our ventilated 3-layer mesh jackets are also perfect for newbees so they can feel cool, confident and comfortable while they learn.

Additional Information

Please be aware that a beekeeping jacket is NOT a beekeeping suit. [You can view those here]. It is important to wear additional protective clothing such as long pants (painters’ pants or jeans are great), a pair of thick socks, and good work boots to help prevent stings.

3-LAYER MESH

Our unique Flow 3-layer mesh gear provides the best available sting prevention and is purpose designed for functionality for times when even the friendliest hive gets cranky.

Three intersecting layers of raised fabric sit high and away from the skin, helping to prevent bee stings.

The mesh ensures much greater comfort than traditional beesuits, allowing breezes in and sweat to evaporate out, perfect for warm conditions.

Lightweight construction allows for extended beekeeping sessions, so you can get to work like your bees even on the hottest days!

What jacket size should I pick?

Bee Jackets are designed to be worn over normal clothing, so we suggest you select 1 size larger than you normally wear.

NOTE: The sizing chart below provides measurements of the jacket fabric itself. In order to properly use this chart, you need to compare the chart to your own body size measuring over the top of your clothing and include additional length for movement (to allow wrists to remain covered).

Be sure to give yourself plenty of room to move around. Beekeeper jackets are typically worn slightly baggy - you do not want these to be tight fitting. It is the loose fitting cotton material that keeps you from getting stung by cranky bees.

Important sizes are the 'waistband circumference' which is an elastic waistband indicating tight/stretched measurements. You will want the elastic waistband to fit your individual size, as it stops the bees crawling up if it is worn over and not tucked into pants. The ‘torso body length’ is also important – this will make sure your bee jacket waistband sits low enough to meet with your pants – and does not rise right up when lifting or reaching.

Beekeeping is a labour of love. As with all animal husbandry, it’s a pastime which requires knowledge, skill and dedication and which carries with it inherent risks.

Beekeeping suits and other personal protective equipment can offer excellent prevention against bee stings, but are not 100 percent effective. It’s important new beekeepers exercise caution when tending to their hives and are comfortable with the fact that sooner or later, all beekeepers get stung.
