I’ve been running the Flow Hive 2+ this season and honestly, it’s been a lifesaver. The Flow frames make harvesting simple and calm — my bees barely notice, and I don’t have to wrestle with heavy boxes or sticky extraction gear. For someone like me living with MS, where tremors and heavy lifting are an issue, this hive paired with the Flow Super Lifter has made beekeeping actually doable. I can still enjoy the hobby without it wrecking my body. The cedar looks beautiful once treated, and assembly was straightforward. The adjustable stand makes leveling easy, and the ventilation and pest tray design show real thought. I also added the optional hinges — pricey, but worth it for the peace of mind of having all the boxes latched securely together. My first harvest gave me several jars of clean honey straight from the tap, and it was surreal not having to disturb the bees to get it. Pros: • Huge help if lifting is a challenge (the Super Lifter is a game-changer) • Harvesting is clean, calm, and easy on the bees • Beautiful cedar build, clever design features • Hinges/latches give extra security Cons: • Definitely more expensive than a standard hive setup • Hinges are expensive
Hive number five and six for us. Guess we're sold on Flow hives. We love the features and design of Flow hives. Harvest is clean and easy. Fall clean up simple. We store our supers neat and clean for next season. No sticky mess.
I have startet with two 2+ flow hives so far. The 2+ were quite easy to assemble and got used to the workflow quickly. I have just startet, looking forward getting dome honey next year when my bees get stronger.
I couldn’t be happier with my decision to go with the Flow Hive 2+ for my first beekeeping setup. The craftsmanship is outstanding, setup was straightforward, and the thoughtful design features—like the screened bottom board, ant moats, and viewing windows—really make a difference for both the bees and the beekeeper. The bees took to it immediately and seem incredibly content. I’ve already seen comb being built and honey flowing in! Everything about this hive shows how much care and innovation went into its design. It’s functional, beautiful, and beginner-friendly without sacrificing quality. If I decide to set up a second hive in the future, I’ll absolutely be buying another Flow Hive 2+. Highly recommended!
