I purchased the Flow Hive 2+ for several reasons. First off, I am from a family of beekeepers and the removable window brings back memories of my cousin who had an observation hive up against house and he would invite school children on field trips into his home where he would teach them about bees. I also love the look of these hives for the back yard. The quality of the wood is top notch and the accuracy of all the parts are impeccable. I purchased this now to beat any winter or spring rush so I have not yet had the opportunity to actually work with bees in it but we signed up for the Flow Hive video course and we are learning so much. If you are thinking of getting into beekeeping as a hobby, I think the Flow Hive and the Flow Hive 2+ in particular is the way to go. No messy extractor and hot knives to fuss with and clean. Yes its a little expensive but not having to purchase, store and clean all that equipment, not to mention how nice these look makes it well worth the investment. Cheers!
I ordered two hive kits in preparation to start beekeeping next spring here in Colorado. As a retired cabinetmaker of 40+ years I very much appreciated the precision craftsmanship and organization of the kits. The assembly instructions were clear and complete and the parts fitted together flawlessly. The innovations are great and I look forward to the bees moving in next spring!
From start to finish it’s been perfect. If you do the research and use it as it should be used you will not have any issues. I have Italian bees. Good temperament. Haven’t been stung once. They didn’t even know I removed honey from the hive. It was that easy. So much less stress on the bees. I won’t use anything else…
