Since the launch of Flow products on Indiegogo, a Flow Hive built to hold 7 Flow Frames or 10 Langstroth frames has been the most asked for product on Flow beekeepers’ wishlists.

Popular with beekeepers in cold climates, having an additional Flow Frame in your super provides more room for your colony, and has the added bonus of collecting more delicious Flow Honey!

Invented by father and son team Stu and Cedar Anderson, our patented Flow Frame technology is the most significant advancement in beekeeping since 1852. It is now possible to simply turn the Flow Key and watch as pure, untouched, unprocessed fresh honey flows right out of the hive and into your jar.

Crafted from sustainably sourced Araucaria (Hoop Pine) the Flow Hive Classic 7 provides plenty of space to keep your colony thriving.

The Flow Hive Classic 7 frame is the ultimate in easy honey harvesting.

The Invention / How It Works

Often referred to as the “Beekeeper’s Dream”, Flow was created out of a desire to make harvesting honey easier for the beekeeper and to lessen its impact on the bees.

“I really didn’t like squashing bees or disturbing the hive when harvesting, so I thought ‘there has to be a better way'."
- Cedar Anderson

For those that don’t know, harvesting honey used to be pretty labour intensive. After a decade of tinkering, our patented Flow Frame technology is the most significant advancement in beekeeping since 1852. It is now possible to simply turn the Flow Key and watch as pure, untouched, unprocessed fresh honey flows right out of the hive and into your jar

Precision Manufacturing & Premium Timber

The patented Flow Frame technology allows you to tap honey directly from your hive. Made in Australia from durable, highest quality, food-grade, BPA and BPS-free plastic - Flow Frames have taken the beekeeping world by storm.

Crafted from sustainably harvested Australian Araucaria - also known as Hoop Pine, using precision laser manufacturing and paired with a full set of 7 Flow Frames, this is one sweet hive!

Araucaria is a premium Australian native cabinet timber, highly regarded for its stability & durability. To ensure it lasts a long time outdoors, two good coats of quality weatherproof sealant such as exterior house paint or varnish is a must. You can be as creative with the paint job as you like!

Timber included in this product is made from naturally grown resources - each hive will be slightly different in character. Please see our FAQ for more information on our natural timber characteristics.

How much honey can I harvest?

Harvest up to 21 kgs (44 lb) of honey when the super is full. Watch as fresh, pure unfiltered honey Flows from the back of the hive directly into your own jars. No filtering, no mess.

Each Flow Frame holds approximately 3 kg (6.5 lb) of unprocessed honey, this can increase if the bees really build each frame out. Bee prepared with extra jars in case your first one overflows!

For more information on honey collection see our FAQ.

Safety, Care & Maintaining Your Flow Hive

Apply a coat or two of timber sealant to bring out the lustre of this beautiful timber, and help it last even longer.

Beekeeping is a labour of love. As with all animal husbandry, it’s a pastime which requires knowledge, skill and dedication and which carries with it inherent risks. Sooner or later, all beekeepers get stung. Some people have severe allergies to bee stings, so please be aware of the potential hazards when considering whether beekeeping is right for you.

Check out this Flow-sponsored safety pamphlet covering common beekeeping safety risks and first aid responses.

  • I've kept bees before so I have a general idea of what's involved, and like so many people, I've hated disrupting their cosy home and having to kill so many bees to get at the honey.
I have a million thank yous to the man and his dad for building these hives.
Sheesh, I'm crying again. It's just so wonderful.

    Heather G.

  • It has been really exciting to be included in the first automatic honey-harvesting device in history. I am really proud of what the Andersons have achieved. Cedar gave me the first jar of honey ever harvested in this way and it is still in my pantry, too precious to be eaten. Congratulations, you two.
