Flow Super Classic Araucaria

Already have a beehive? A Flow Super Classic is perfect for beekeepers with an existing Langstroth hive who want to experience the ease of harvesting with Flow.

Our Flow Supers can be added to Langstroth hives to convert them to our revolutionary method of harvesting, or can be stacked on existing Flow Hives to increase your capacity for collecting more delicious Flow honey!

Invented by father and son team Stu and Cedar Anderson, our patented Flow Frame technology is the most significant advancement in beekeeping since 1852. It is now possible to simply turn the Flow Key and watch as pure, untouched, unprocessed fresh honey flows right out of the hive and into your jar.

The Invention / How It Works

Often referred to as the “Beekeeper’s Dream”, Flow was created out of a desire to make harvesting honey easier for the beekeeper and to lessen its impact on the bees.

“I really didn’t like squashing bees or disturbing the hive when harvesting, so I thought ‘there has to be a better way'."
- Cedar Anderson

For those that don’t know, harvesting honey used to be pretty labour intensive. After a decade of tinkering, our patented Flow Frame technology is the most significant advancement in beekeeping since 1852. It is now possible to simply turn the Flow Key and watch as pure, untouched, unprocessed fresh honey flows right out of the hive and into your jar.

Precision Manufacturing & Premium Timber

The patented Flow Frame technology allows you to tap honey directly from your hive. Made in Australia from durable, highest quality, food-grade, BPA and BPS-free plastic - Flow Frames have taken the beekeeping world by storm.

Crafted from sustainably harvested Australian Araucaria - also known as Hoop Pine, using precision laser manufacturing and paired with a full set of Flow Frames, this super is the perfect way to convert your hive to the Flow method of harvesting.

Araucaria is a premium Australian native cabinet timber, highly regarded for its stability & durability. To ensure it lasts a long time outdoors, two good coats of quality weatherproof sealant such as exterior house paint or varnish is a must. You can be as creative with the paint job as you like!

Timber included in this product is made from naturally grown resources - each hive will be slightly different in character. Please see our FAQ for more information on our natural timber characteristics.

How much honey can I harvest?

When the super is full you can harvest up to:

  •  21 kgs (44 lb) of honey from the 7 frame model
  •  18 kgs (40 lb) of honey from the 6 frame model

Watch as fresh, pure unfiltered honey Flows from the back of the hive directly into your own jars. No filtering, no mess.

Each Flow Frame holds approximately 3 kg (6.5 lb) of unprocessed honey, this can increase if the bees really build each frame out. Bee prepared with extra jars in case your first one overflows!

For more information on honey collection see our FAQ.

Safety, Care & Maintaining Your Flow Super

Apply a coat or two of timber sealant to bring out the lustre of this beautiful timber, and help it last even longer.

Beekeeping is a labour of love. As with all animal husbandry, it’s a pastime which requires knowledge, skill and dedication and which carries with it inherent risks. Sooner or later, all beekeepers get stung. Some people have severe allergies to bee stings, so please be aware of the potential hazards when considering whether beekeeping is right for you.

Check out this Flow-sponsored safety pamphlet covering common beekeeping safety risks and first aid responses.

  • Just wanted to let you guys know my Flow Hive has performed better than expected.
The old timers in my bee club had a bit of prejudice on the Flow Hive but my videos may be bring them to the dark side. This is my first year to keep bees so maybe being clueless helped. It was very easy to harvest honey and the girls loved the box.
A kudos to the durability of the Flow Hive both my hives made it through TS Harvey with banana trees on top & 4ft flood water under the platforms.
